The Children’s Medical Center at Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce the 17th Annual “A Cause to Celebrate” benefitting the Child Life Program. Honoring Rosemary Cinquemani, Esq., Michael Stroud and Frank Catelli, Esq., the event will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at The Garden City Hotel. Each honoree is a longtime supporter of Winthrop, a member of the Hospital’s Board of Regents and a Co-Chair of the Cancer Center for Kids Annual Golf Outing.
This year’s event will feature musical entertainment by The Atlantic City Boys – A Tribute to the Music of Frankie Valli.
The funds raised by “A Cause to Celebrate” support Winthrop’s extraordinary Child Life Program through which certified Child Life Specialists utilize play and education to improve the understanding of medical procedures, teach relaxation techniques to help the patients cope with illness or surgery and provide emotional support for the entire family.
“Using a team approach, our Child Life Specialists work closely with doctors, nurses and support staff to provide children with a sense of control,” explained Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of Pediatrics at Winthrop. “This interaction gives our young patients a chance to express their feelings, ask questions and understand the entire hospital experience.”
“We are so appreciative of the community’s loyal support to Winthrop’s Child Life Program,” said Nicole Almeida, MS, CCLS, Director of Winthrop’s Child Life Program. “Their goodwill continues to enable the Child Life team to meet the unique psychosocial needs of our pediatric patients and their families.”
