In an outstanding show of support for Winthrop-University Hospital’s Child Life Program, 330 guests gathered at the Garden City Hotel on March 21, 2013 to enjoy an evening marked by fine dining and incredible musical entertainment by Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot. Honoring Garden City residents Beth and Spiro Spirakis, longtime supporters of Winthrop, A Cause to Celebrate was the most successful gathering of its kind to-date in the event’s 16-year history – raising $155,000 for Winthrop’s Child Life Program.
Guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner in the main ballroom as Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot delivered an incredible performance. Attendees also had an opportunity to participate in an exciting raffle and silent auction, featuring beautiful items donated by local vendors.
A Cause to Celebrate is a pivotal annual event that garners the community’s support for Winthrop’s Child Life Program, through which specially trained Child Life Specialists help children and their families understand and cope with hospitalization. A vital program across the full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services at Winthrop, Child Life is supported in its entirety by philanthropic contributions.
“We are so appreciative to everyone in the community whose generosity has impacted countless pediatric patients at Winthrop,” said Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of Pediatrics at Winthrop.
