NYU Winthrop Names Three New Members to Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of NYU Winthrop Hospital is a committed group of community and professional leaders who are charged with supporting the mission of NYU Winthrop Hospital and setting the direction for the Hospital’s continued growth and expansion.

Recently, three new members were elected to serve as part of this group, whose generosity and dedication carries on a legacy of commitment begun by the Hospital’s first Trustees in 1896.

Michelle Clark

Michelle Clark was recently named Head of U.S. Consumer/ Retail Specialty Sales at Morgan Stanley. Prior to her current role, Ms. Clark was a member of Morgan Stanley’s North America Equity Research team for eight years, covering the Retail Broadlines sector.

Ms. Clark has consistently been recognized as a top equity analyst on Wall Street by external polls. In 2011, she ranked as the #1 stock picker in Multiline Retail by Starmine. In addition, she has ranked in the top three of the Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” in Retailers: Broadline & Apparel. Ms. Clark has made numerous television appearances on Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and other networks, sharing her retail investment forecasts with the world.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Ms. Clark covered the retail and healthcare sectors at Goldman Sachs Asset Management as a member of its fixed-income portfolio management team.

In addition to volunteering her time at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, Ms. Clark serves as an Admissions Interviewer for Harvard University, from which she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics in 1998. Ms. Clark received her MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 2003. She holds Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses.

Ms. Clark and her husband, Scott, a Principal at Sandler O’Neill & Partners, reside in Garden City, NY, with their two young daughters, Ashley and Charlotte.

Sheila Jones Heslin

In 1997, Sheila Jones Heslin founded SMJ Interiors, LLC – an interior design firm that specializes in residential design.

Ms. Heslin holds certification by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) – the global leader in establishing standards of competence for interior design professionals. She has twenty years of experience in the interior design field and has overseen projects for corporate office interiors, retail stores, financial institutions and private homes.

Ms. Heslin is one of the original members of the Garden City Chapter of the My Best Friend for Fanconi Anemia Research Fund – a group that is committed to raising funds for fanconi anemia (a rare genetic disorder). She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Dance Project – a non-profit program that gives young dancers the opportunity to explore their talent and passion for dance in a positive and healthy environment. Ms. Heslin has also been a long-standing member of the Hospital’s Board of Regents and Yuletide Ball Committee to raise funds in support of NYU Winthrop’s Child Life Program.

Ms. Heslin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. She furthered her studies at the New York School of Interior Design, a nationally ranked college of design and the only institution of higher learning in New York that is devoted exclusively to the design of the interior environment. She resides in Garden City, NY, with her husband, Matthew, and their three children, Quinn, Kerry and Rory.

Mary Beth C. Tully

In recent years, Mary Beth C. Tully, who has worked professionally in both the public and non-profit sectors, has devoted her time and resources to impacting her community by getting involved in various volunteer initiatives.

In 2012, Ms. Tully was elected to serve on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the Garden City Central Property Owners’ Association (CPOA). An active member of the New York Junior League – an organization of women who are committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers – Ms. Tully served as President from 2002-2004. She is also an active member of the Board of Directors for the United Hospital Fund and Palladia, Inc. – one of the nation’s largest nonprofit, multi-service substance abuse agencies. In addition, she has been a long time, active member of NYU Winthrop’s Board of Regents and Yuletide Ball committee.

Throughout her professional career, Ms. Tully has exemplified an ongoing commitment to healthcare advocacy as demonstrated by her most recent position at the American Liver Foundation, where she served as Director of the Greater New York Chapter.

Ms. Tully graduated from Lehigh University and holds a Master’s degree in Health Policy and Management from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She and her husband, Christopher, reside in Garden City, NY, with their twin girls, Caroline and Elizabeth.
