NYU Winthrop Unveils New "Welcome" Sign

To celebrate the restoration of a 74-year-old neighborhood icon, NYU Winthrop Hospital officially debuted a new "Welcome to Mineola" sign on September 2, 2014. Representatives from NYU Winthrop, the Going Sign & Servicing Co. (the company that built the original sign, as well as the new one), The Station Plaza Coffee Shop (which leases the space to NYU Winthrop) and elected officials from around the area gathered to mark the completion of this revitilization project.

"We thought it was important to maintain a bit of history," said John F. Collins, President and CEO of NYU Winthrop.

Now, all those who enter the Mineola community are warmly welcomed, as they have been for years, under the beacon of a new LED-lit sign featuring an American flag and functioning clock, which had been damaged during Superstorm Sandy in October 2012.

Welcome to Mineola!
