A Lap Goes a Long Way for Child Life at NYU Winthrop

After a long winter, children and their families were eager to jump into the pools at Hofstra University’s Swim Center at NYU Winthrop’s 14th Annual Swim-a- thon. Amidst the sounds of splashing, laughter and lively music, all those in attendance of the March 15 event were present to support a common goal - to enjoy a healthy activity while raising essential funds for the Child Life Program at NYU Winthrop. And what a great job those 125 individuals did!

This year’s event was a record breaker, raising $64,000 for a vital program that utilizes supervised play and education to make the Hospital experience as smooth as possible for young patients and their families.

Each year, the Swim-a-thon is enhanced by an outpouring of support from community members who donate their time and services to make this a fun, family-centered event. Special thanks to all those who were active partners with NYU Winthrop, including Ken and Jim Hazen of Saf-T-Swim, Inc.; Rob McKeown, South Shore Tri Coach; Denise Cook, RN, Licensed Massage Therapist; Mineola High School Jazz Band; Central Beat Rock Band; crafts by Cathy Grossfeld, All About Kids; photos by Anne Lucas, Moments Captured; and yoga by Donna Dragani.
