Giving to NYU Winthrop is a top priority for Huntington resident Stephen Parmett, past President of the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Mineola, Inc. and present Board Member of the organization.
“NYU Winthrop’s dedication to the needs and care of patients is sensational, and the compassion and personal touch all of the staff shows towards patients is over the top. They treat everyone with the utmost respect and concern for the individual,” said Mr. Parmett, who is grateful for the care he has seen loved ones receive at NYU Winthrop.
“NYU Winthrop means a lot to me and I’ll do anything I can to help.”
Mr. Parmett, along with representatives from the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Inc., visited the Hagedorn Pediatric Inpatient Center recently to present a check in the amount of $2,500 to once again show their support for the Child Life Program at NYU Winthrop, which is supported in its entirety by philanthropic contributions such as this one.
Every day at NYU Winthrop, Certified Child Life Specialists utilize supervised play and education to improve patients’ understanding of medical procedures, teach relaxation techniques to help young patients cope with illness or surgery, and provide emotional support for the entire family. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world through service to children and communities. The local Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Inc. has been giving to NYU Winthrop for close to thirty years.
“We are happy that the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Mineola, Inc. continues their outstanding tradition of supporting children’s services at the Children’s Medical Center at NYU Winthrop,” said Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at NYU Winthrop. “The funds raised over the course of the relationship have helped improve the lives of children we serve and we are always grateful for their hard work and generous donations.”
