Grateful Patient Gives Back to NYU Winthrop

Carmela Gershonowitz (fourth from left) recently visited the Mineola office of NYU Winthrop's Wendy Balopole, MD (fifth from right), to say "thank you" for the care she and her staff have provided over the years. The East Meadow resident calls Dr. Balopole and her staff (pictured right) her "guardian angels." To express her gratitude, Mrs. Gershonowitz has been holding fundraisers in a local grocery store where she works for the past several years, raising money to benefit NYU Winthrop, as well as the Hospital's Cancer Center for Kids.

"Mrs. Gershonowitz's passion and dedication to giving back to the staff and institution that has served her well over the years is truly admirable. We deeply appreciate all she's done and continues to do for NYU Winthrop," said Lynn Drucker, Assistant Vice President of Annual and Major Gifts at NYU Winthrop.
