Once Again, Hospital Recognized for Meritorious Patient Outcomes by ACS

Members of the community coming to NYU Winthrop Hospital for care can rest assured that quality and safety are top priorities across all Hospital platforms.  In fact, the American College of Surgeons, through its National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®), recently recognized NYU Winthrop as one of only 66 hospitals, out of 680 adult and pediatric hospitals, to have achieved “meritorious” outcomes for surgical patient care.

ACS NSQIP is the only nationally validated quality improvement program that measures the care of surgical patients, with the program aimed at enhancing and improving outcomes. The program evaluates actual surgical results 30 days postoperatively in eight clinical areas ranging from cardiac incidents to respiratory issues, renal failure, infections and more.  The recognition of NYU Winthrop Hospital as ranking among the superior performers points to the Hospital’s high quality surgical care and patient safety that produce optimal outcomes. This marks the third consecutive year that NYU Winthrop has been recognized in this meritorious manner.

“NYU Winthrop is committed to the highest quality patient care, and our record of successful surgical outcomes is testament to that dedication,” said Collin Brathwaite, MD, FACS, FASMBS, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at NYU Winthrop Hospital. “We apply the highest levels of care across all Hospital divisions and that shines through with this meritorious recognition, which spans many clinical areas.”
