The NYU Winthrop Diagnostic Radiology residency program is a four-year program with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved five residents per year.
While the NYU Winthrop program is an independent training program, residents benefit from being a part of NYU Langone Health, an international leader in medicine and radiology which has been widely recognized for its stellar commitment to medical education at all levels of training.
The NYU Winthrop program also has an approved Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology pathway.
All training, with the exception of the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology course, takes place at NYU Winthrop.
More than 25 full-time faculty are actively involved in resident education and participate in our robust clinical research program.
Residents are consistently placed in the most highly coveted, competitive radiology fellowships across the nation.
Radiology trainees will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, robust support staff infrastructure (including 24/7/365 in-house radiology nurses and CT, US, and MR technologists), a culture focusing on patient safety, clinical excellence, and superior resident education, and 24/7 in-house radiology attending subspecialty coverage results in an outstanding learning environment.
Excellent clinical and research collaborative relationships with other departments, including numerous interdisciplinary conferences. Opportunities to teach medical students within the system as well as visiting medical students, and to collaborate on clinical research and educational projects.
Heavily subsidized housing for all NYU Winthrop residents leads to a very reasonable cost of living in suburban Long Island.
The NYU Winthrop Hospital Diagnostic Radiology residency program combines intense one-on-one clinical training by our subspecialty trained radiologists with a robust, two-year cyclic educational series highlighted by a mix of case-based and didactic lectures, supplemented by a wellness curriculum, a superb Grand Rounds series which many consider among one of the best in the country, monthly QI conference, journal club, radiology-pathology conferences, and Core Radiology Review Series. This results in excellent board passage rates and outstanding fellowship placements for our graduates.
