Graduate Medical Education Research
NYU Winthrop Hospital has been hosting an Annual House Staff and Medical Student Research Day since 2008.
All trainees at the institution are encouraged to submit their written abstracts for review by a judging committee made up of faculty and other members of our academic community. Over 100 abstracts, representing the areas of basic science, clinical research, case studies, and quality improvement projects, are chosen for poster display and the top four abstracts are selected for oral presentation. During the poster session, which is open to all departments, projects are presented to our Judging Committee and several are recognized as Posters of Distinction. The day is also highlighted by a distinguished Key Note Speaker, who has proven to be a leader in the field of scientific inquiry.
Over the years, an increasing number of Research Day abstracts have been presented at national scientific meetings and have been published in high-quality scientific journals. Research Day at NYU-Winthrop highlights the strong academic environment of our institution, demonstrates the broad depth of scholarly activity occurring here, fosters collaboration across departments, and provides mentorship to a new set of investigators.
