Paying For Your Care

NYU Winthrop Hospital is a participating provider in many health plan networks. You can find a list of the plans in which we participate here. Some health plans use smaller networks for certain products they offer so it is important to check whether we participate in the specific plan you are covered by. Our list will tell you if we do not participate in all of a health plan's products.

It is also important for you to know that the physician services you receive in the hospital are not included in the hospital's charges. Physicians who provide services at the hospital may be independent voluntary physicians or they may be members of both NYU Winthrop Hospital and the NYU School of Medicne. Physicians bill for their services separately and may or may not participate in the same health plans as the hospital. You should check with the physician arranging your hospital services to determine which plans that physician participates in.

Out of Pocket Costs

Hospitals are required to maintain a list of standard charges for the items and services they provide, sometimes referred to as the "Chargemaster." It is important to note that standard charges do not reflect or represent the actual out-of-pocket cost a patient pays for these services. However, you may view the list of NYU Winthrop’s standard charges. Out-of-pocket costs may vary significantly, even for the most common procedures, depending on where the service is provided at NYU Winthrop.

Standard charges are subject to change and are updated annually. If you would like to better understand your potential out-of-pocket cost for a service at NYU Winthrop, please contact your insurance company.
